Taylor Telecom’s 2026 FRS Youth Tour Applications Are Now Open

Taylor Telecom is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Youth Tour — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for local high school students to travel to Washington, D.C., completely all expenses paid.

Each year, Taylor Telecom selects two students from our surrounding and participating school districts to represent our community on this educational trip, scheduled for June 1–5, 2026. The FRS Youth Tour brings together students from rural communities across the country to learn about government, leadership, and the critical role broadband plays in connecting rural America

What Is Taylor Telecom’s FRS Youth Tour?

The Foundation for Rural Service Youth Tour is a five-day educational immersion in Washington, D.C. designed for curious and motivated high school students from rural communities.

During the trip, students will:

  • Meet with Congressional and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) staff

     

  • Learn how federal policy impacts broadband, technology, and rural communities

     

  • Tour iconic landmarks like Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the World War II Memorial

     

  • Visit Smithsonian Museums

     

  • Attend a cultural experience such as a performance at the Kennedy Center

     

  • Build lasting relationships with peers from across the United States

 

Students return home with a deeper understanding of leadership, civic engagement, and how technology connects rural America.

Who Can Apply for Taylor Telecom’s 2026 FRS Youth Tour?

Students must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be 15, 16, or 17 years old at the time of the trip

  • Be a current high school student

  • Reside within the Taylor Telecom service area

  • Have a parent or legal guardian who subscribes to at least one Taylor Telecom residential or business service (phone or internet)

  • Trip Dates: June 1–5, 2026

  • Application Deadline: April 1, 2026

Is Taylor Telecom’s FRS Youth Tour Supervised?

Yes. Students are supervised at all times by:

  • Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) staff

     

  • Experienced adult chaperones

     

  • NTCA (The Rural Broadband Association) employees

     

Rooms are assigned by FRS staff, with two students of the same gender per room.

Transportation throughout Washington, D.C. — including airport transfers, tours, and daily activities — is provided by bus or shuttle, ensuring students are safe and accounted for at all times.

What Will Taylor Telecom Students Experience in Washington, D.C.?

The Youth Tour offers a full itinerary that balances education, exploration, and connection. Students will:

  • Learn how Congress and federal agencies operate

     

  • See firsthand how decisions in Washington impact rural broadband access

     

  • Explore historic landmarks and national memorials

     

  • Participate in group activities that encourage teamwork and leadership

     

  • Connect with students from rural communities nationwide

     

Many past participants describe the trip as transformational.

What Does the Trip with Taylor Telecom Cost?

Nothing.

The FRS Youth Tour is completely all expenses paid, including:

  • Round-trip airfare

  • Four nights of hotel accommodations

  • Three meals per day

  • Transportation to all activities

  • Event tickets and program materials

Students may wish to bring spending money for souvenirs or personal purchases.

What Should Taylor Telecom Students Pack?

Washington, D.C. weather in early June is typically hot and humid, with a chance of rain. Students should plan to pack clothing for four to five days and comfortable walking shoes.

Please note:
Clothing with suggestive, political, alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substance branding is not permitted during the Youth Tour.
