2025 FRS Community Grant Program
Do you have a project that could make a meaningful difference in your rural community? The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) is offering grants of up to $5,000 to support local initiatives that create lasting impact.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Nonprofits organizations, schools, community groups, municipalities and other organizations doing good work in our community.
IMPORTANT DATES
- APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 25, 2025
- GRANT AWARDS ANNOUNCED: Late November 2025

GRANT FOCUS AREAS
- Business & Economic Development
- Education & Workforce Development
- Health & Wellbeing
- Public Safety & First Responsders
● Can be fully funded by the $5,000 grant, or are at least 75% funded already
● Leverage technology and/or broadband
● Deliver a long-term benefit to the community
● Encourage local engagement and participation
● Support a sustainable future for rural residents
The FRS program does not support funding for:
● Overhead (salaries, rent, utilities, insurance)
● Individuals or scholarships
● Projects lacking 75% secured funding
● Events, travel, training, or conferences
● Membership or dues-based initiatives
● Political or religious programming
● Infrastructure, buildings, security cameras, or vehicles
● Food programs, digital signage, or for-profit businesses
● Capital campaigns, endowments, or debt reduction
